I deleted Google Maps after their capitulation. While I haven't deleted Apple Maps, my default is now Map Quest. For the record, I live a block from the Genesee River and four miles from the shore of Lake Ontario. Virtually no one on this side of the lake will call it anything else.
I deleted the Apple Maps from my IPhone and I dearly wish I could delete Apple from my life. Here’s what Apple pretended to be in 1984, the year I bought my first Mac:
Something to ponder, who would buy a swath of Yosemite? How about some network state connected tech bros interested in — proximity — (kinda like Solano but maybe prettier and actually easier to buy from a willing seller), and definitely WATER, not to mention other obvious assets. But who would willingly sell (surely not the public) other than maybe this admin., (especially when it’s proving difficult to take Greenland), which is also selling other interesting public land with proximity to lots of handy things that a network city/state might desire. Just wondering.
A reasonable compromise would be to add “Lake America” to the southern half of the lake (owned by the USA) and “Lake Ontario” to the northern half (owned by Canada).
I’ve seen elsewhere that Apple Maps shows two names for a disputed feature in order to satisfy both parties.
