Imagine if those tech giants had just let their stocks go down in value. Trump cares about the stock market. It may have been the kick in the ass he needed to stop at least one of his dumbest economic moves and tamped down some of his excesses. But they saw a vision of humanity and said nah — we need more. If this were the French Revolution, you know exactly where their heads would be. But they know how they have lulled us with all their products into, saying, wait, I won’t have the internet if we rise up. No thanks.

Don't they care that this course is destructive to everything that separates modernity from the bad old days?
Don't they see that this capitulation is throwing the door open for a return to the caste system that we thought we had left behind in the bloody 20th century?
Don't they see that this is a regression to the most brutal of ancient human dysfunctions, where the strong dominate, crush, and destroy the weak, thus making it impossible to fulfill the collaborative promise that separates Homo Sapiens from the beasts?
I hope there are enough Mike Brocks out there to defeat that regression. I wish I could do more.
