Cutting foreign aid, less than 1% of federal spending, will make us less safe. We make friends by feeding poorer nations. Friends = good! We prevent the spread of disease before those diseases reach American shores. We keep adversaries like China out of those regions by being there first and doing good. Allies won’t want to work with us or share intelligence with us. The US, regardless of how people feel about their lives, is wealthier and more prosperous than any nation in history. This took place over the last 80 years. It’s a hard-won position that we shouldn’t have and once lost, cannot easily be regained.
