What this means is, as soon as the House and Senate are returned to Democratic (democratic) control, articles of impeachment must be filed against not only Trump and company but also six “justices” of the Supreme Court.

Agree 100%. Moreover, the Supreme Court overall needs reform - term limits and strict ethics rules. This must be near the top of any Democratic platform.

Absolutely. Any Democratic candidate for president in 2028 must prioritize massive ethical reforms for all three branches, in addition to taxation reform so the corporations and billionaires pay their fair share, and the end of Citizens United. These are bare minimum planks of the platform.

If you had asked me just a few days ago if this was possible, I would have said that even this court would not go that far. It’s astonishing.

Bottom Line:

These justices should be impeached for treason against the constitutional order they swore to defend.

I can say the same thing, and I do mean it, for Trump, given his violation of free speech, free press, due process, and the Emolument Clause in the Constitution.

What has happened is that ethics/morality have been shoved into the trash by:

▶︎ Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS)

▶︎ The president of the United States (POTUS)

▶︎ The Republican Congress

▶︎ A majority of the American Electorate.

If this is not DOGE (Destroy Our Great Experiment), then I do not know what is.

For those of you who blame the Democratic Party and hold Biden responsible for this, I reply: Bullshit. The foundation of the problem is the STUPIDITY of the AMERICAN ELECTORATE. Am I screaming loud enough? You voted this monster into office, and he has brought all of his sociopathic and greed-mongering friends with him. Trump has pardoned convicted felons, devastating a multitude of governmental departments that have served the public well for centuries. But no, a scatter-brained citizenry that apparently cannot tell good from evil voted this turd to the position of most significant power in the world. Great job, fellow citizens. Yes in Canada, the Supreme Here has age limits for retirement and most laws are handled at the provincial level so few cases get to the Supreme Court and rulings may not be as impactful as a result.

Ice cold Truth. The SJC must be defunded until the Gang of Six is gone. Term limits and a Congressionally mandated Ethics Code are needed - retroactive if at all possible. The justices(sic) who have hacked off essential liberties framed in the Constitution must be Impeached and removed, loudly.

The word 'conservative' has become meaningless. It certainly doesn't describe the right wing which includes the majority of SCOTUS and somehow we have to eradicate it from political discourse.

💯 right as usual. This SC is serving its corporate billionaire masters.- white supremacist, misogynistic patriarchal, overlords - who hated that democracy meant people would not accept poverty, racism, and tyranny. Now we have a Kingdom of States, meant only for acceptable white people, with felonpotus as king. Once Latinos are purged, Blacks and Asians are next. The "undesirable" whites - liberals and LGBTQ - are also being targeted. No one is safe from the tyranny of this kingdom.

The only peaceful way out of this mess is to elect a veto-proof Democratic majority in the House and and Senate in the midterms which would also give Democrats the 2/3 majority in the Senate to convict any impeached officer of the United States, justice of the Supreme Court or Judge. Good bye President Trump, Vice President Vance, Justices Alito and Thomas and Judge Bove! The alternative is going to be unspeakable state violence against massive peaceful street protests in 2027, especially if Trump somehow corrupts the midterms to keep Republicans in power in the House and Senate.

This, and also, how do we get any Democratic majority to hold the SC and everyone else involved in this authoritarian show accountable? I feel they'll just try to move forward and bring everyone "together." Swalwell at least seems to be talking about accountability should we make it even semi-intact out of this unfolding disaster.

Why would someone who wanted to be in America destroy property and wave a foreign flag while doing illegal things? Help me make sense of that.

Expand full comment
The Whispering Candle's avatar

The (sort of) correct answer, I think is because they don’t love everything about America (hence destruction of property). They love their own people (hence symbol based solidarity) and whatever it is they want to get out of living in America. They want to be in America but are evidently (currently) incapable of bringing themselves to adhere to the contract of presence in this country, which absolutely requires respect for life and property.

Freedom of speech. It's in the Constitution.

Boflys's avatar

Wow, you’re a retard. That makes zero sense. Even if they were waving Nazi and Confederate flags (which if it happened it was a minuscule amount) those are Americans. Also, even if that retarded analogy were true, it doesn’t address my point. Illegals who want to stay in America would probably be waving American flags.

Expand full comment
Bridget Collins's avatar

Yes, coming from you that really stings.

Not.

You assume that people waving flags are immigrants. 67% of Hispanics in this country are BORN HERE.

Do you also assume your neighbors flying the Irish, Italian, Swedish or British flags are immigrants? Or do you assume it’s St. Patrick’s Day, Columbus Day or a soccer championship?

Here’s the difference between people waving Mexican or El Salvadoran flags at protests.

The US hasn’t fought a war with Mexico since the 1840s.

And Mexico fought to keep land, not to invade us.

You on the other hand are fine with the actual enemies of this country - people who did want to invade us, people who did try and destroy this Republic, because you hate what they hate.

I was taught by my father - not in school - but by my father that his great uncles had died to keep the Union and free the slaves and that anyone painting Confederates as anything other than gutless traitors was either an idiot or a traitor themselves.

His belief was that if we had hung a lot more of them we would have fewer problems now.

In 60 years, the man has yet to be proved wrong.

So your faux outrage over foreign flags is hereby noted as hypocrisy.

If millions of white men illegally entered the Congo, do you think it would be unreasonable for their police not to stop and check whites to make sure they are not illegal?

As you quoted, an “extremely high number and percentage of illegal immigrants in the Los Angeles area,”

It's not unconstitutional. It's reasonable.

Yes, it goes against the progressive norm, but it's reasonable in LA to suspect illegal status based on race, language, work, etc.

Woke America has created this racial sacred cow that's frankly retarded. Now, in a perfect world, sure, I would say you're right. But this ain't Sesame Street. It's LA.

If you have a million criminals and 90% are brown, why are you shooting yourself in the foot?

Brown, speaks Spanish and works on a farm in LA. Nope, better not check, that would be racist. No, do check. It's common sense.
