Sometimes, I feel you are too wordy - but I left my normal academic life behind decades ago and lived amongst many who don't have our background of a full-blown vocabulary.
I always check what you are offering because many times you really hit the nail on the head and can make even superfluous language (from a barrio point of view) quite understandable. And after so much time checking you out and reading your thoughts, I find you sincere, well-read and well-educated, and (so important in these times) hopeful. Keep up the good work -- and I'll try to be one of those who try to find ways to interpret for others.
Uneducated people are not stupid - by any means. But often there is a need to express certain giros of "higher" language in a manner more in tune with their lived experience. I've discovered that using refrains can often help a lot. And certainly, all the good and bad things in life have happened to them -- and the bad things have often been harsher. So, once they get the gist of what is being said or done, they understand a lot - perhaps more than any "well-educated" person would.

I began every yoga teacher-training course with the words from my teacher, and her teacher before. "Everything I share I have gleaned from my teachers, all that is good and true comes from them. Any mistakes are my own." It's why we call it practice : )
My dad taught statistics at a university. He would always laugh and say, "Well, 50% of people are below average."' Some people are definitely more stupid than others.

I, too, am a long-retired reader who am not in a position to support you financially but appreciate your detailed, scholarly work and your making it available to all. I share it frequently since I discovered it abaut a year ago and will continue to support its spread. Thank you, Mike.
I read a lot of truly great stuff here on the ole substack. I wish I could support it all. But I like to keep my life simple, uncomplicated. I was on Patreon for a few years for a few YTers but then shut it all down earlier this year. Still send them a 'coffee' every once in a while.
Every year they ask in the polls whether the country is on the right track or some such wording. And every year more respondents say it is not. Doesn't really matter who is in charge, the trend is the same. I agree, the national policy has been off track my whole lifetime of gen X number of years, and longer than that based on pretty open knowledge.
Is the answer to go ex-pat? Canada looks alright. Denmark? Scotland? Honestly I could do it if I wasn't married and employed and had parents and so on.
Hey I really like this post. I find myself disagreeing with Mike perhaps as often as I agree. But I am always glad to read his take.I almost always learn something and his analysis often reveals a greater truth in something most of us will pass by.This post sends a message about his seriousness.
I am always startled by ,especially the Marxists, who lock their comments as if they are afraid of any disagreement.
The truth is that legacy media is so intimidated today that excellent writers on spaces like this are essential.
