On Narcissism, Consciousness, and the View From Nowhere

A live conversation on Cartesian dualism, the hard problem of consciousness, and why talking about yourself isn't what you think it is

In this Substack Live session, I explore the philosophical roots of a charge I keep encountering — that I’m incorrigible, that I’m a narcissist, that I’m too absorbed in my own perspective to reason clearly. I want to suggest that this charge reveals something important, not about me, but about the framework doing the charging.

Along the way: Descartes, Einstein’s relativity and the problem of the preferred rest frame, the hard problem of consciousness, Chalmers and qualia, the Copenhagen interpretation, Alan Watts and Spinoza, the crisis in the academy, and why intellectual revolutions have historically happened outside institutional walls.
