In this Substack Live, I shared my raw, unfiltered reflections on the moment we find ourselves in—a historic crossroads where democracy is genuinely at stake. I discussed how Donald Trump’s deployment of federal troops against American citizens isn’t merely political overreach; it’s a deliberate escalation toward authoritarian rule. This isn’t business as usual; this is power testing its limits, pushing against the foundations of our constitutional republic.
I talked openly about how many Americans, overwhelmed by misinformation, political exhaustion, and deliberate confusion, have slipped into dangerous complacency. We are facing a profound epistemic and moral crisis that has compromised our collective ability to see the clear threats before us.
But I also emphasized hope and resilience. We can resist by bearing witness, by providing moral clarity and a shared grammar of resistance. Above all, we need to rebuild genuine community, to reconnect in the physical world, to strengthen our local networks and civic bonds. Real political and moral strength comes from authentic human relationships, not algorithm-driven isolation. Democracy is in decline, but it’s not yet defeated—if we remain clear-eyed, courageous, and committed to one another, we can win this fight.
