The System, as he has declared many times, is indeed rigged. This is another example of how his every assertion is reliably a projection - if it isn’t an outright lie.

Millions of knuckleheads voted for this guy. Never forgive them, nor forget that they consistently make up one third of the population.

And another third of US voters stayed home. Until large numbers in both groups realise they have done something stupid and evil (as opposed to merely making a mistaken choice) there is no hope for the US. And as yet there is no sign of this.

I really resonated with Harris’ recent comment that the System is broken, and a big part of that malfunction is with the voters themselves and the influences (the media, American cultural framework, personal values and grievances) that guide them. I am very disappointed in my fellow citizens, and I don’t see a lot of them ever changing, either.

The way you cut through the false equivalencies is spot on. Refusing to name what’s happening has become a kind of moral evasion. Still, I can’t help wondering what happens now. If American leadership has lost its footing, morally and politically, what takes its place? Are our allies really in a position to step up, or is the whole thing just coming apart? What does moral clarity even look like in a moment like this, when the old rules no longer seem to apply? Those questions stick with me after reading this good post.

I second that emotion. The choir is with you. Time for us to dust off our political moxie and get busy staving off the surge in the Repugnican cheating of voters so that we can demonstrate the nation's clear desire to toss Repugnicans out of office everywhere they run -- appropriate atonement for their attempt to torpedo the American Promise. If they want to avoid deportation, let them seek therapy from a rejuvenated NIH. We're not having that shit any more.

Simpleminded comment: why the fuck is it so obvious, yet scarcely anyone is waking up to it? I can’t help, but think of Japan’s comments in 1941 about the “slumbering giant”. I think he passed in his sleep.

It’s because most Americans live in comfort, and always have, leading them to believe it will always be so. Tens of millions don’t know or care how their country works, or how their comfortable lives might be threatened.

They lack the perspective and the emotional maturity to deal with big problems, so they retreat to Netflix and Instagram etc and pretend it isn’t happening/doesn’t really matter.

Yes, agree, let’s talk then. I do not have a crystal ball and cannot predict how all this will play out. But as stated, i am hopeful (cf the Obama-Biden Globalist neo marxist culture shift)

The existing order is pillaging the global south by the g7 and Trump’s unsophistication has made it easier to see. And a recent study of 400 societies that collapsed over 5,000 years showed the majority imploded as a result of a privileged elite class clinging to power at all cost. So I’m glad the existing order is breaking down as along with climate change, it would doom us all. What comes next might save most of us, but it won’t happen if we remain bystanders. The status quo almost never reform themselves

Marx never argued that centralized economic planning was a prerequisite for socialism, and in the history of socialism other models have been proposed and attempted, such as anarcho-syndicalism. It doesn’t seem useful to me to dismiss the whole field of “socialism” in this way.

Hey, i voted for Trump 3 times… and i approve of his policies and direction… and I’m not a knucklehead (i am trained to MSc level in STEM degrees). The system is rigged and he is re-rigging to the benefit of all rather than the few.

Not dumbfounding at all, if we assume (plausibly based on the numbers) that Chris is a white racist/misogynist (or, if you prefer, "anti-woke"). Of course, racism is dumb, so he's still a knucklehead, despite passing a few exams.

The true crimes seem to be allowing multiple millions of unvaxed and unvetted illegals into our country. A crime that this country and its people will be paying for for many years to come.

Im legal goofy (not to mention a proud citizen). I didn’t say he was a saint (clearly not totally altruistic!). But unless he has broken a law (with precedent application!) i am not one to judge. I have a narrow set of interests that include self, kids and grandkids… i must believe in the future and that requires hope; Trump’s actions and policy direction provides that. Now stick that in your xenophobic pipe and smoke it!

Haha Xenophobia? My grandparents were immigrants. trump has broken many laws, just in this term. And that doesn't include the norms and standard practices he's broken.

If you think hope for the future involves creating trade wars, insulting world leaders, hiring unqualified cronies, and gutting healthcare for rich people's tax breaks you're in for a big surprise. Have a good day. We can check in w/ each other in a year, and we'll see how you're faring under authoritarian rule.

Hello Chris, if you are for real and not using AI to simply be oppositional - How would I know? ans: Repeating dog whistle propaganda and conflating terminology - you offer the possibility of an interesting discussion. My first question is, how do you justify calling Obama a Neo-Marxist? (Have you read Marx?) IMO Obama proved himself a free market capitalist (aka economic neoliberal) by using Summers and Geithner to fix the banking crisis they helped cause when they worked for Clinton (an economic neoliberal).

No interesting discussion to be had here Mosley. I have read many snippets and analyses but am not familiar with his work. But i also know that I didn’t call Obama a neo-marxist, so you can right off. Few of you commies reach back to the means of production, you just park your lazy asses on things that a capitalist built/started and is operating but impose laws, rules, restrictions and taxes that will lead to his billionaire status becoming sub millionaire and acceptable (to you); meanwhile the factory goes under and you move to the next victim. Your lot are disingenuous liars and thieves and live off others like it’s your right. You don’t believe in individual liberty and the right to be left alone. You love telling people they are wrong and what to do, you cannot leave us alone. If we’ve done well you will be like a plague in your stealing and abusing of our earned income. Just go yourself and leave me alone.
