I cannot get my brain around MAGA supporters. Trump does things every day that indefensible. Yet as you say, seemingly rational people, people you'd otherwise like or even love, support it with fervor. I can only agree with Mike's description in one of his articles; you have to think of it like a religion. Its devotees don't like to think, don't like to explain, don't like to debate. They like to belong, they to be certain, they like to have a powerful leader and an imagined enemy. We are living in 1984. Or pre WWII when the browncoats, people's own children, ratted them out to the secret police.
I am not silicon valley. I worked there briefly. I am a scientist, and don't understand the fascist mind. I am somewhat religious and it's all about do not do to others as you would not have done you. That is a basic difference between me and the fascists.

This pearl clutching stance on "bad" words deliberately obfuscates that point, making it about words not deeds. Well said. This articulates what Mike was saying about the Mayor swearing after ICE shot Good in the face three times for no reason. Trump is waging war inside America and now internationally, and if someone says "fuck me, that doesn't seem right" THEY'RE suddenly the bad guy?

The way I see the problem is that I dont think the people you ask to stop doing evil, feel/see/think they are doing evil, on the contrary they believe they are trying to stop OTHER people from doing evil and ruining/threatening the country for which too many have paid the highest price to create.
This assumes they genuinely believe what they are doing is “for the good of the country as a whole” I have no doubt there are many that know better and use it as a shield against their own sense of immorality.

The history of humanity does not supply a permanent answer because the answer is always given by the survivors, among whom there will be some victims and some perpetrators
