It will be interesting to see how these notes evolve over time, seeing as we are becoming curious about some writer's substack ouvre such as Mike Brock or Henry Farell.

Your analysis is always interesting and sophisticated. I would express caution, however, with respect to your use of the putative “assassination” attempt of Trump AS an instance of our inability to retain a shared reality, because the event itself was theatrical and treated as political theater, and we never got any investigation or medical reports, so there is ample space for dismissing it as faked. Then it recedes from memory as one more circus event. The use of military force in cities seems like a much more pressing example.
