There's literally nothing redeeming about these people. They are garbage humans with the moral maturity of the most spoiled bratty toddlers imaginable. They believe that spectacular visuals are all they need to justify their horrific policies, the crueler the better. I'll never understand the people who support this. Nor do I want to.

Glenn Eychaner's avatar

I don't like to call anyone "garbage humans"...but boy is it hard not to some times. Once upon a time, I believed in the Star Trek future, that we could get past our differences and work together. Now, I believe in the Mirror Universe or General Picard's Confederation; we'll never get past our differences, and we'll populate our corner of the galaxy with garbage humans.

Whew! That last sentence takes your breath away!

This is foreign policy for the WWE crowd; faces vs heels. That’s who’s in charge now.

The GOP exists solely to manufacture lie-filled fascist propaganda at this point. That’s literally the only thing it does.

Frankly I don't buy the framing that these are "drug" boats at all. There's been no evidence to indicate that they are. This is extrajudicial murder IMO.

Once upon a time I was hoping the right billionaire would buy Tik Tok, maybe Cuban. Now we have Ellison, Entertainment Emperor, Data Surveillance King and literal feudal landlord of his own HI island at the wheel of pop culture. So glad I never had Tik Tok and that X is in the past for me. I hope this diatribe will help ween others off, Mike.

People who think these boats are being blown up without justification are obviously not familiar with the intelligence community.

I’d wager there is confirmation that each of these boats are loaded with drugs and operated by the cartels, confirmed by phone intercepts, human observers, satellite imagery, drones, or who knows what else. Telling the public how that information was obtained gives away the source of the information and dries it up.

I’d prefer to think that the people defending our country are honest ethical people who would not kill others without good justification.

The cartels are no different than the terrorist organizations that previous administrations were attacking with little complaint from the public. You need to think of drug smuggling like you’d think of 9/11, except the drugs have kill exponentially more people.

Excellent article. Thank you!

A better title would have been boats and engagement

that anonymous note to the federal judge that said, “Trump has tanks and pardons, what do you got?”

That’s what it’s coming down to. Not sure the courts will hold because the supreme court is overruling any lower court decisions that slow down the dictatorship.

Don't forget it's Dept. Of War now. Pete Hegseth playing army. I think the videos on x will come in handy as evidence of war crimes against this regime.

JasonT's avatar

If it wasn't promptly reported, you would be complaining about lack of transparency. Why is the Left supporting the drug trade?

Mike Brock's avatar

I'm not supporting anything here. You are. You are supporting crime and villainy. It is illegal to blow up these boats just as it would be to shoot drivers in the head for speeding.

JasonT's avatar

So, open borders to all is the policy you support? We voted against that.

I agree that this is a foreign supported invasion as well as a drug funded terrorist gang enterprise. I'm glad to finally see action. What is your understanding of the reason these boats are running?

Mike Brock's avatar

What the fuck are you talking about? Whether or not this is breaking the law and violating the constitution has literally nothing to do with controlling the border. I support securing the border. By legal means. Not by any means. Because I believe in the rule of law. Now go. You clearly have much growing to do morally. The adults are talking.

JasonT's avatar

Your team has actively subverted the rule of law by refusing to prosecute drug crimes and by providing sanctuary to illegal immigration. Seems odd to now be concerned about the rule of law.

What is in the boats? fishermen?

Mike Brock's avatar

My team? Do you realize how nuts you are? This isn't a fucking sport. It's law and blood.

JasonT's avatar

Which is why law should be respected from the local level on up. It has not been and we now have a mess that must be addressed. Cleaning up messes is never pretty.

What is in the boats?

Nick Mc's avatar

They may very well be drug boats. But there is process. There is law. There is a constitution. One man, even the president, can't just blow people up without trial or evidence. Also, it's hardly an invasion. That would imply they attacked Americans, when clearly the opposite is true. No, *sigh, we're not saying we support open borders. But this is the equivalent of blowing up a car with a family of people approaching the boarder fence, with a drone guided stinger missile. Kind-of overkill no?

Glenn Eychaner's avatar

"Open borders" is the rallying cry of the white supremacists. I'm sure you're in favor of "open borders" to the white South Africans, or fine Germans, or even upstanding Brits.

JasonT's avatar

Ad hominem is your argument? The law applies to South African farmers snd upstanding Brits.

Glenn Eychaner's avatar

“Open borders” also has nothing to do with bombing boats in international waters. What’s your point? Never mind, I already know you don’t have one. This is not an invasion, nor is it terrorism - those words have actual meanings that are being bent and broken to fit an illegal agenda. The boats aren’t “running”, nor are they anywhere near US soil. For all you or I know, they’re fishermen.

JasonT's avatar

Let's just say for yuks that a foreign country is behind the drug running for purposes of destabilizing a certain country; sorta like the Opium Wars. Would that be invasion or terrorism? What response would you suggest?

Fishermen. You betcha.

LM's avatar

Why are you taking the word of an administration run by a pathological liar convicted of felony fraud that has provided zero evidence for its claims?

Nick Mc's avatar

So you think rather than covering it up, the administration is to be congratulated that it's bragging about murder? I'm genuinely amazed at your reasoning. I'm not amazed at the 2nd sentence. That's classic MAGA. Straight to accusation and blame. I find it hard to believe people like you actually exist and aren't just here to stir the pot. Nobody is supporting the drug trade. Us 'radical lefties' and 'domestic terrorists' aren't even taking sides. We're trying to support the constitution. The law. You-know, all the stuff Trump is trashing, not just for this term, but forever, by setting these insane presidents. Yep, fair, we wouldn't be complaining if there was a lack of transparency and we didn't know. But blowing up over 100 people using US military resources is the kind of thing that would out eventually. Particularly if it ends in a war, which it looks like it might.

You're reaching back to the fucking Opium Wars to establish some legal precedent? Tell me more about the finer points of Maritime Law during the heyday of the British Empire.

I'm seriously starting to think humanity won't survive this stupidity.

Fair's fair? No, I don't think about myself as on some 250 year-old team, and doing moral accounting across centuries to determine whether or not breaking the law or the constitution can be justified through a _tu quoque_. That would be the logic and moral development of a fucking twelve-year old. But alas, I am middle-aged, and thus hold myself to a higher standard. Apparently you do not!

What the fuck does the trans issue have to do with illegally blowing up boats in international waters? You seem like a crazy person.

Seriously, what is your beef with trans women? Really? THAT is Trump's major accomplishment? And you're happy with the hell he's raining down on you and everyone else, for that? Also agree, exactly what the hell has trans women got to do with the murder being committed here?? And 'apparent success' really is a catch cry of this shitshow. Trump talks it up, so many apparent successes - like Thailand and Cambodia, Pakistan and India... there were no wars there, just disputes, Trump apparently succeeded, and weeks later nothing has changed. Excuse me if apparent successes in Syria don't impress me.

Nick Mc's avatar

Dear God, this is the kind of argument that has put Trump in charge. Sure he's blowing up another country's boats and killing people with zero evidence or permission from congress or anybody else. Sure he's using the military to bully people and cities unconstitutionally for his own selfish purposes. Sure he's a convicted criminal who incited an actual riot in the Whitehouse. Sure he's balls deep with a convicted pedophile. Sure he's put tariffs in place that hurt the American people, among others. Sure he says he stopped 10 wars when actually he's stopped zero and is busy starting several. Sure he took a 400 million 'gift' unconstitutionally from a known terrorist supporting country then allowed them to build an airbase on American soil. Sure he gave a Argentina 40 billion to bail out their economy while American farmers went broke. Sure he's been caught in so many lies we've lost count. BUT hey, he banned trans athletes from competing in sports. And THAT'S progress. What the actual hell. Why does anybody care so hard about a tiny, tiny minority of people who do exactly no harm to anybody else? Have you ever met a trans person? Have they somehow wronged you? How is it, every MAGA moron raises this issue as if it's the foundation of their belief system, and will happily suffer constitutional abuses, the systematic dismantling of democracy, total humiliation on the international stage, unemployment, inflation and a thousand other misfortunes caused by Trump? Just to hurt a handful of people they've never met??

"Among adults (18+), around 0.8% identify as transgender." About 1.3 per million people in the US rise to compete in the Olympics. That's 0.00017%. Now let me get my calculator... 0.00017 times 0.8... So yes, you're worried about about 0.000136% of US citizens competing in sports. Which, in the larger scheme of things, don't really matter. I'm not "refusing to face the problems" transgender people are producing, because they don't cause any problems. It's a total non-issue and nothing but a distraction from the villainy that is the Trump administration - and trolls like yourself.

Mwahaha. I had a look at your strange rabbit hole cherry picked images. Jesus dude, seriously? You guys are frightened of a couple of confused little girls trying to look a bit staunch? You are a posterchild and an exemplar for the lunatics who voted for Trump. The kind of person who makes even MAGA asshats rethink their allegiance.

"Mussolini made the trains run on time," or so the saying goes about the alleged virtues of Fascist Italy. Fascism starts with the rationalization that, finally, some adult in the room is breaking the law to fix society's ills, but that logic is always wrong and the outcome is always bad.

The Supreme Court is filled with an improperly seated, Trumpist majority. Mitch McConnell manipulated regular process to seat whom he wanted. Those who allowed themselves to be seated while being manipulated politically do not belong on the Court. In the rulings that clearly defy the Constitution, we are smelling the "stench" that Justice Sotomayor warned would eminate from such a fouled Court.

The entire problem is the breakdown, or the abandoning, of the Constitutional order by people of bad faith. Trumpism is the worst part of that, not its solution.
