Everyone in the Trump orbit is evil to the core. They have defended Trump and his criminal corruption. They have supported his illegal and unconstitutional war. They accept Israel’s horrendous crimes in Gaza and Lebanon. They are just like Trump, drunk on power and all the perks that go with it. They could have broken with Trump and revealed his crimes but they have remained loyal not because they support this evil monster but out of sheer self interest. May they burn in hell.
I’ll add the ones that read the Epstein files, redacted his name and other white rich creeps, they’re Guardians Of Pedophiles. They are as evil as the perpetrators
I'm hoping for justice to be served here on earth, long before the possibilities of heaven or hell are in the offing. Having suffered through these hellish years and witnessed the satisfying removal of his name from the Kennedy Center, we are eager for more joyous experiences in the here and now.
When the time comes, I will say that they can fuck right off. They are still in his orbit, while other Republicans like Liz Chaney and Thomas Massie had the balls to stand up to him and lost elections for it. The people in his orbit are benefiting from his power merely by aligning themselves with him. They do not get to re-write history.
Cheney and Massie were not really oppositional. They are controlled opposition. This is grand theater where every "act of conscience" is performative, lost elections or no. They are not now nor were they ever good people.
What you are seeing is pure fiction written for a very specific audience that gives them some kind of vague moral standing. The Democrats are playing their parts as well and offering nothing more than scripted strongly worded soundbites. There is no *meaningful* resistance.
History is written by the Victor's. I don't know why this keyboard insists on capitalizing some arbitrary things! Do you? Anyway, Neal Bush is writing the history books today, so don't expect much!
“Notice the speakerphone” is the whole corpse with a toe tag. Everyone in that room is already rehearsing their post-Trump innocence monologue, arranging the lighting for their future documentary tears. Vance gets conscience cosplay. Wiles gets “I was managing chaos.” DOJ gets “we were only on speaker.” None of it is justice. It’s a getaway car being assembled in slow motion while the house is still on fire.
Like we need more ‘reporters’ who care more about $$$ than telling the public what they know, when they know it. They're part of the problem. No better than the talking heads, paid millions, to regurgitate headlines hour after hour, on ‘news’ channels.
These people are fundamentally untrustworthy people who will lie about anything to try to save their skin. We should assume nothing they say on this matter is true at face value
“That is not a small editorial lapse. It goes to the heart of what journalism is for. Asking a spokesperson for comment is ordinary reporting practice. Reproducing a propagandistic moral claim as though it were one side in a normal dispute is something else.”
Great analysis! Something slick about the timing and placement of articles lately in NYTimes. The way they disable comments on controversial topics then insert a thumb on the scale of the subjects they’re reporting on. It very much feels as though these institutions are fully corrupted by their own behind-the-scenes ‘Bari Weiss’ of the newsroom.
We’re paying for facts but we’re getting opinion filtered through a very AIPAC-friendly lens.
This is an interesting analysis and the way you write this reminds me of other historical downfalls where people position themselves within an orbit so when and if the fall comes they have ”grounds” to conceivably defend themselves. I’m thinking of Watergate where people started leaking stuff out and also the fall of Hitler. People within tried to defend themselves against their own illegal behaviors. (That was also very obvious in the movie Nuremberg where Goring contorts himself into different directions to create a defense for his murder and torture of prisoners. In his case he was just “following orders” and had no idea of the immensity of his actions. He actually almost succeeded in convincing the tribunal, but not quite.)
My point is that these people know they are doing wrong or at least they know they could get caught doing something illegal and as history shows, when you are in that position it becomes all about self preservation.
The situation is both fascinating and pathetic. At core, no one is responsible for anything except protecting the corporate interests of their benefactor of the moment.
“A republic, if you can keep it”, as Franklin wryly stated. Looks like we won’t be keeping much of anything.
Why wd tRUMP's PERSONAL Attorneys be in the Situation Rm, & where was tRUMP - golfing?, napping?, taking ANOTHER test where had to point out the squirrel?

Yep. They knew exactly what they signed up for.
And you know they are being richly rewarded with taxpayer dollars, hope they choke on the money

It's self-interest all the way up.
So disappointing that Rubio supports the evil. He is one who does know better.
Rubio is one of them. Rubio is evil.

This is why I hope there is a Hell. It makes karma work.
Alas, there isn't, but they're making one right here.
Remarkable how quickly the ranks of the principled fill up once the indictments start.
Anything to shield a pedophile. And they know it.
Facts reveal, and the sources of those facts are key....This is elegantly and brilliantly written, Mike. Your prose will echo on, as well!
I agree. I am reminded of the Watergate world. It came crumbling down because evil shows through always.

History will not accept their late apologies, and neither should we.

Vp has no conscience. He wants the job.

Especially Haberman🤬🤬🤬

Here is my take on their book and the recent article in the New York Times. https://thoughtsonpolitics.substack.com/p/the-paper-of-record-or-trumps-court?r=5j6ld&utm_medium=ios
great analysis

You are right to trace this. The newspaper's relationship with power is often the story beneath the story it chooses to run.
The book is called “Regime Change”

I wouldn’t use anything Haberman writes even for cat litter.
I have read that she is known as the Trump Whisperer.
OK, they're a bunch of egotistical back-stabbers, angling for power money, and to save their own asses. Tell me something we don't know!

I wonder what the country would look like if reporters reported stuff like this as news instead of saving it for books.
Right, because everyone will not read it.
Also there’s a huge time lag.
And the chose to conceal.
