Political violence and violence of any sorts is always a backwards step away from a progress toward a civilized society. But as human beings all we have to do is look at what's happening in Gaza and the Sudan and the reality of the violence and its justification for political solutions can't be ignored. To think that we are immuned from this is unrealistic. If we truly believe in democracy we have to consider every means necessary to preserve it and secure it.
Mike, you are an educator in the best sense-sharing your thoughts based upon philosophical principles and insights from your own past experiences in the “tech”world and beyond. I deeply appreciate the way you are using your voice to communicate soulfully a nuanced understanding of our fractured country. Thank you for encouraging us all to get clear on what we think and can do now along with you to counter the toxic forces of fascism.
I was traveling in France about 3 years ago and saw a professor speak on BBC or CNN about the dangers of social media, specifically how it discourages healthy discussion and young people are particularly vulnerable. He spoke of the algorithm driving extreme views on both ends and if anyone tries to express a moderate opinion they completely get jumped on and suppress their opinions. He spoke about if we don’t do some regulation around these social media platforms the US would be headed toward becoming more of a banana republic and the algorithm works as a general threat to democracy and here we are. I realize there are many other factors but we are not teaching people how to have healthy discussion and difference of opinion.

Any Dems with cajones to shut down the government? Feels like the last stop before we fully fall off the cliff.
For the most part the government is already shut down, at least at the management level.
We need fighters
Not gonna happen they are total losers, why we are here
