“The Attorney General of the United States has sent a letter to Minnesota officials: ICE will leave if the state turns over its voter database.”
Unbelievable but not beneath Pam Bondi or this administration. They know they will lose badly in the midterms and want a reason to impose the insurrection act fast, before they lose.
It’s Minnesota now and all the other blue states next.
Bondi totally gave the game away with that letter...so, DHS would call the goons off, leaving the city "at the mercy of the worst of the worst" in exchange for confidential voting, SS, and medical data...extortion, anyone?
"They shot her through the windshield, point-blank, in the face."
I understand it's a little more horrific than that.
There apparently were four wounds from three shots. Two in the *right* side of the chest. One to the *left* side of the head. And one in (through) the left arm, i.e. inferably a protective wound.
Think about that, comparing against the relative positions of the shooter and target when the shots were fired.
A likely conclusion is that the first two shots were fired at body mass (as per general training) from the left front of the vehicle, the most plausible angles from which the target could be struck in the right chest.
Which suggests the third shot (almost certainly aimed) was a shot to the head at the closest range available: from the *left*, and *after* the shooter must have known he was in no personal danger from the vehicle.
The murder of Alex Pretti by fed goon squads echos the shooting of Philando Castile several years ago in the Twin Cities area following a traffic stop...Castile announced promptly when the questioning started by the cop that he was a licensed gun owner and had his pistol on his person...and the response was shoot-to-kill by the cop, no attempt to allow the victim's pistol to be placed on the dash, or handed to the cop...just shot outright. I believe that audio evidence suggested that Alex Pretti also tried to tell the goons that he had a hand-gun on his person, but as soon as his pistol was confiscated, he was pumped full of lead... 10 shots in all.
Second-Amendment rights? Open-carry state? Only works if one is a member of a far-right, anti-government militia...funny about that, innit?
My wife is an ICU RN. She is Korean. She has an American citizenship. That means absolutely nothing when one lives under a fascist regime--AS WE DO. The news commentators are showing some brass, some spine, some balls, some chutzpah calling out the lying that has been obvious since DAY FUCKING ONE of Trump's emergence from his crypt.
It's now time to speak up, commentators, and call the Trump Administration what IT IS. A fascist regime under the aegis of a raving lunatic, a sociopath, a best ally to Putin, Kim Jong-un and other tyrannophilics around the globe.
Americans, far too many, are ignorant, or they are apathetic.
""It is a new Declaration of Independence: No longer do we hold these truths to be self-evident. We hold all truths to be self-evident, even the ones that aren't true. All things are knowable, and every opinion on any subject is as good as any other." --The Death of Expertise by Tom Nichols
This is where many Americans are today. They believe that if it's their opinion, that makes it true. And if you disagree with them, then, like Trump, they call it fake news. These are the people that listen non-stop to the Russian narrative spewed out on Fox News. If you listen to Fox News, it is pretty disgusting to hear their distorted view of reality. You have to ask yourself, what possible agenda could they have? And then you remember that Tucker Carlson is extremely popular in Russia. And perhaps that gives you a little bit of a clue to why Fox News is popular in this country.
Where are the voices of all of our celebrities? Yes, thank you, Bruce Springsteen, for singing and speaking out, but where are the rest of your colleagues? Where are all the professional athletes that are revered by the American public more than those in science and medicine and teaching and art?
I don't think it has any value to ruminate about the murders—not shooting, not killing, but murders—of Rene Good or Alex Pretti as a result of the criminality of ICE agents. I do think we have to call out Trump and his administration and ICE for what they are. They're Gestapo. They're fascist elements that have corrupted this country and are destroying this country.
And it is quite clear, at least to me, what the modus operandi of Trump and his goons is all about. It's about intimidating voters. It's about diminishing the numbers of voters. It's about doing whatever he can do to set up an atmosphere where there'll be no midterm elections in November.
From what I can see, Trump and his administration, and perhaps a significant part of the MAGA cult, are American Nazis in thought and now in action. This is the harsh reality that needs to wake up all of this country. There is no balance of powers. The Congress is corrupt and unethical. The Supreme Court lost its ethics quite a while ago. All we have left is an off-the-rail, maniacal president who is doing whatever he wants to do and behaving just the way he has always behaved, like a petulant four-year-old.
And there is also this bullshit about Trump reducing the cost of living and enhancing affordability. From my perspective, living in Oregon, this is pure nonsense. Yesterday at Costco, if you wanted four pieces of filet mignon, the total cost was $92. As far as gasoline is concerned, I haven't seen gasoline less than $3 a gallon for decades.
The only USDA prime grade A stuff that we're seeing is the bullshit of the Trump administration.
I had no difficulty with accessibility to the Prime Minister of Norway. I was able to email him a letter apologizing for the stupidity of our president. But where is the accessibility that we American citizens have to those in Congress, other than leaving a voicemail and for some, perhaps an email? Yes, there should be a march on Washington. The whole country should march to Washington and at least show solidarity that we are sick and tired of this crap and we're not going to put up with it.
...I think in every mobster movie ever made, for one. It's extortion. Their inhumanity as well as how they see themselves as legally accountable to no one is on full display.
Thank you for this - always appreciate your articles.
Apparently our top business leaders have adopted a new term to how they are going to respond to this administration- "adaptive normalcy". In other words we should normalize this disaster and wait til it passes? continue to do so indefinitely? I first read about this in a WSJ article about what it was really like at Davos (read only on an empty stomach because it was a deplorable and sickening picture they painted of the financial elites shmoosing and celebrating how great things are in their part of the universe.)
I slightly knew one of the cops who shot Diallo. His parents, an Irish-American ad exec and Jewish-American primary school teacher, were my landlords in Brooklyn. He was basically a nice kid, sent with three other novices to patrol a neighborhood they didn't understand after minimal training. After the police department discharged him, he took a job as a fireman (prompting resignations from the firehouse he was assigned to). He really was someone who just wanted to serve the public good. Send anyone out with guns and authority without thorough training, and they'll kill by accident.
Now, there are no decent people working for ICE. That was a purposeful execution, a terrorist act. There may even be good reasons to not more thoroughly train Nazi goons.
There are three faces of evil. The Killer does the killing. In Alex Pretti's case, we don't yet know the name of the Killer. But we will, eventually.
The Liars, we know -- Trump, Noem, Bovino, Bondi, Miller . . . on and on. The Liar is worse than the Killer because the Liar protects the Killer an guarantees there will be more Killers.
The Traitors are those who know that the Killer is mad and dangerous, and that the Liars are lying, but they go along, quietly or with cynical excuses. They are the politicians in Congress and the media commentators who twist reality to suit their own fortunes, claiming they are just "doing their job." They know it is all sick and wrong, but they do it anyway. The Traitor is the worst of all because without their cover, the Liars would fail and the Killer would face justice.
One correction. the shot(s) that actually killed Renee Good where most likely the ones that came through the drivers side window, fired by Jonathan Ross from the side of the vehicle, as she was passing him and after he was unambiguously out of even the pretense of being in any danger.
Never forget that this isn't just Trump. The corruption flows down from the top, through Trump's self-selected cabinet, department heads, and Department of inJustice, all rubber-stamped by the Senate. It extends into the Supreme Court and both Houses of Congress, who have enabled and defended Trump and his administration's actions. And it encompasses a significant portion of the American people, who voted for this and continue to affirm that they support the administration's actions. Nothing will ever clean this stain from America.

Beautifully and poignantly written. Thank you. Memorial candles will light our way and carry us forward.

To me that truly shocks the conscience.

Bondi’s response shows her true colors and impeachment of her must occur!
What an afront to tell MN give us your voter rolls and we will stop murdering your citizens! Where have you heard this before?

If it's justifiable for a law enforcement officer to kill someone for thinking they have a gun, you don't have the right to bear arms.
