Gender identity is a culture war topic. I just tell people the culture wars are a distraction. I am talking about the demise of our democracy. Existential issues. The rule of law. The Constitution and what it stands for. I like the way you are framing this. Sedition verses identity politics dribble. They do reveal who they are. Loudly and clearly.
A point about the Book of Revelations: I think the conventional interpretation is that the anti-Christ represents the one world government as it existed in first century Judea. That would be the Roman Empire. Plenty of people want to read more into it, but Occam’s razor says it’s an allegory predicting Jesus triumphing over Rome.
I always ask the "two gender" folks what they know about intersex. 100% of the time it's nothing. I tell them to look it up and then come back with that gender wars bullshit.
Then I foist the outrage of the day/week. The Qatari jet/airbase facility, the $230MIL payment that he's seeking from the Treasury while people are losing food and healthcare security, the desecration of the White House for an unwanted "Let Them Eat Cake" ballroom, the Epstein FBI files that the DOJ is hiding, the tariffs and idiotic trade war, the betrayal of his base, the encouraging of bribes, his crypto schemes leaving his investors holding the bag while the family makes out like bandits etc.
It literally is the middle of the night, I’m listening the Sunday at the circus and you are working your way through each subject. As you do each thought resonates with like listening not only myself but each rational person I know especially the reminder we are affected and dealing with a nut who has no right to but the capacity/will to create chaos; who believes he can subjugate opponents by any means but who basically is just a petty criminal. In a word, we don’t agree, we see him for who he is and we need to keep hold of rational thought that this is our country, not his and we are not alone, we are of like mind and we happen to care deeply about distinguishing right from wrong and wish to preserve this democracy and freedom of choice. It is important that you here verbally work your way through these thoughts as these things serve as reminders. I think as well of Mr. Vexler who despite his everyday struggles sees his way to calmly do the same. He is an inspiration to stop, think clearly about what is important and rationally stay focused on not losing sight of first who we are our common focus on good and secondly exactly who and what we deal with as a threat. Although the threats are real perspective on the origin of the threats must be maintained
Commenting on my own thoughts: 1) never compose a comment directly on Substack as you will somehow post it before it is complete. 2) apologize for making this mistake repeatedly and not taking your own advise and 3) thanks to Mr. Brock and Mr Vexler for keeping me somewhat sane.
And lastly thanks for passion. We need controlled passion to say you know I hate this focus to deny things like the obvious fact that science supports the reality of transgender as important identifying issues when this has nothing to do with the objection to watching the dismantling of our democracy. The passion to call out what is stupid argument and avoiding the real issues that confront us. Know that you actually verbalize what I hear everyday from my thinking compatriots— cut the bullshit and stay focused on what we cannot abide. All is not lost, keep the faith and use your head.
Regarding What Comes Next: We need to make room and incorporate the priorities of a large segment of the population about to experience economic depression. The populist spirit can enlarge (and should incorporate your "elite precariate" as well). We've been living off "trickle-down" fumes so long that there is little positive in the corporate diet left for us to call feasible, responsible, or negotiable. Fortunately, the path forward is well described, if poorly defined for many who thought things were "Okay". If first things should come first, let's start with democratizing the economy. Organize retaking Congress around that set of priorities, in preparation for midterms. Follow JB Pritzker's lead in protecting the people from the MAGA Klan calling itself ICE, echo Newsome's mirrors.

“Democracy is a project of love.
The possibility of renewal remains.”
Thank you for your time and willingness to connect.
