"Foreign policy shaped by grievance rather than strategic interest doesn't just warp alliances—it creates instability that adversaries can exploit." That's the point, isn't it? To break down the west and reform this section of it into the regional technate the technocrats have aspired to for generations.

As a Canadian, it is indeed strange to watch so many pretend that Canada is the biggest threat to the US, simply because their would-be hero says it's so against all evidence to the contrary. It reminds me of the cognitive dissonance during the Covid years ... one way to tell that it's a narrative with an agenda to be rolled out later at "warp speed" no doubt.

Thanks for noting this glimmer of hope in a landscape where group think dominates.

Trump is certifiably insane. That 1/3 of our country won't see it makes me sick. And, is profound evidence that they're in a cult.

His role, I think, is to bring in the whole AI control grid. Given his popularity, he's the only one who could get away with it since his supporters will cut him nothing but slack. After all, he brought in operation warp speed and despite all the deaths and injuries and lack of apology much less explanation, they voted for him anyway. I think it would be better if he were insane.

We’ve swung from one type of sacred cow to another. The Trump-Right alliance has taken what they disliked about the woke, Left-leaning, grievance-motivated activism, and adopted it as a tool with their own standards for what is noble, sacred and pure (and therefore allowed). Grievance as a default post-modern perspectival lens has been weaponized as a destructive “wildfire” force. It’s a dismantling force that works for all sides, against all.

The fact of his grievance tariffs and aggressive stance against Canada clearly is a global warning that he will blow up even his closest ally on frankly a whim. A clearly abusive tactic to get all of us nervously looking over our shoulders creating fear and anxiety whilst frantically trying to scrabble together methods to protect ourselves. Yanking the rope, easing it out and then jerking it whenever it takes his fancy. Creation of unpredictability in the field of dependency. He is bargaining on the probability he will remain in charge if he creates enough uncertainty and division. Having clarity is key.

We are dangled while his interest pivots elsewhere where more rewards can be easily extracted . He builds his new axises of influence with Saudi Arabia and Middle East with tantalising access to wider markets in Russia and China. Only he will find it's more difficult to garner the loyalty he imagines - loyalty, predictability and certainty in alliance coupled with respect for each here is key even if you are the frenemy. Their return shots are way more lethal and pragmatic. He plays at his peril.
