Heaven’s Armies Advance
A meditation
Heaven’s armies advance on the gates of hell at this moment.
Hell prepares for its last stand.
St. Elmo’s fire has ignited and burns brightly as the angels climb higher and higher.
You can see it now. The marchers in the streets. The people saying “I support the protests” out loud at work, at home, to strangers. The majority recognizes itself. The candles are multiplying. The flame is spreading.
This is the charge. This is heaven advancing on hell. Not metaphor. Documentation.
The criminals know they’re cornered. That’s why the violence escalates. That’s why the desperation. That’s why they shoot citizens and wage unconstitutional war and demand you apologize for noticing.
They’re making their last stand. Because they know what’s coming.
St. Elmo’s fire burns before the storm breaks. That electric charge when energy builds beyond containing. When heaven and hell collide.
The angels climb higher. Every person who breaks the silence. Every act of solidarity. Every refusal to submit. Every candle lit and passed on.
Higher and higher.
We stand in the tragic dimension. The space Adam and Eve fell into when they chose freedom. Where betrayal is possible, and therefore love is possible. Where hell is real, and therefore heaven is worth fighting for.
And the armies of heaven are choosing. They’re climbing. They’re advancing.
Hell makes its last stand at the gates.
And St. Elmo’s fire burns bright.
The angels climb higher.
The charge has begun.

May the Puppy Killer suffer the fate of watching her swollen face deflate and wrinkle in a murky institutional metal mirror bolted to the concrete wall in her prison cell near The Hague.
Along with many historians who write assuming empires make an effort to operate rationally,, I used to wonder how empires fell so hard and so stupidly.
No longer. We live in interesting times, but also illuminating ones! :)
